About The Position

Yazaki is looking for a Sr. Resident Engineer to join our COMBU Engineering team in Canton, MI. The location for the customer will be in Warren, MI. The Sr. Resident Engineer will act as the main point of contact between their area of product D&D within the Yazaki Engineering Organization and various stakeholders both inside and outside the company, supporting the execution of a Product D&D program, usually for EDS business. The Resident Engineer leads and supports all design and technical communication about the product as the partner of a designated customer. They analyze and report all vehicle-level testing issues to Yazaki. The Resident Engineer leads and supports the design and technical communication of the product as a partner of a designated customer in addition to analyzing and reporting all vehicle-level testing issues to Yazaki.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in relevant Engineering discipline.
  • 8 to 10 years of relevant experience

  • Master of Science degree in relevant Engineering discipline preferred for senior-level and principal roles.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a window to the customer, providing on-site support for development programs.
  • Coordinate communication meetings between the customer and YNA.
  • Support customer drawing creation for new and current design products.
  • Support, assist, and review costing initiatives, which include program changes and Request for Quote (RFQ) activities throughout the life of the program.
  • Resolve issues on the technical requirements and design.
  • Prepare project plans.
  • Prepare and present responses to action items.
  • Maintain the technical specification & diagnostics spec., track and update the customer & Yazaki changes and review YNA systems Eng.
  • Support the customer internal peer reviews.
  • Initiate system requirement change requests.
  • Determine and investigate design alternatives.
  • Support investigations into mechanization/automation alternatives.
  • Recommend design alternatives supported by data.
  • Recommend and test new technology in the market or in development phase.
  • Recommend additional testing and development as required.
  • Assist with the resolution of system issues and determine the root cause and resolution to verification and test incidents.
  • Assist with the failure mode and effects analysis process.
  • Create project development plans as parts of the Universal Development Plan process including resources, material, and equipment as appropriate.
  • Review program timing and progress toward achievement of targets and goals.
  • Ensure timely closure for all design quality issues, as well as maintain a resident engineer action item list to track all open issues.
  • Participate in design reviews.
