About The Position
A Senior Researcher or Researcher position is available in Dr. Francisco Robles’ Optical Imaging and Spectroscopy (OIS) Lab within the Department of Imaging Sciences for an outstanding and highly motivated candidate! St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s Department of Imaging Sciences is a new academic department that is recruiting faculty-level scientists, engineers and researchers specializing in the development of novel optical imaging technologies. Our goal is to drive technical innovation that will accelerate scientific discovery and improve clinical care. The OIS Lab develops label-free optical imaging and computational microscopy tools to quantify biological structure and function across applications spanning in vivo clinical imaging, slide-free histology, hematology, organoids, and cell manufacturing. We are particularly interested in methods that combine innovative optical systems with physics-based reconstruction and AI to enable new discoveries and create clinically actionable imaging.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific area is required.
- Two (2) years of research experience is required.
- No prior experience is required with a Master’s degree.
- Working knowledge and understanding of underlying concepts and principles of experimental design.
- Experience with the most widely used techniques used in the home laboratory.
- Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role.
- 3D CAD and 3D printing experience
Responsibilities
- Provide some lab operational support with increased knowledge of the lab environment.
- Execute/ follow more complex procedures/protocols and provide basic troubleshooting of experiments.
- Accurately record experimental procedures and data.
- Prepare and report results/ data leading to posters, presentations, or publications.
- Provide guidance to less-experienced team members.
- Perform other related duties as assigned in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department and the institution.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Assist with clinical studies, including device maintenance and cleaning.
- Assist with regulatory documentation for clinical devices.
- Device prototyping.
