The Krienen lab in the Princeton Neuroscience Institute is seeking a senior research specialist. Research in the lab focuses on understanding the molecular underpinnings of brain cell type diversity and the genetic influences that shape the development and evolution of the mammalian brain, with a focus on human and nonhuman primates. This position will contribute to funded collaborative projects aimed at developing novel cell type-specific viral (AAV-based) tools in nonhuman primate models and producing single-cell genomic (RNA-seq and ATAC-seq) datasets to understand epigenetic and transcriptomic properties of brain cell types. Responsibilities include using and developing cutting-edge technologies such as single-cell genomics, molecular and image-based assays, and next-generation sequencing. The Senior Research Specialist is expected to oversee technicians and carry out independent research. The ideal applicant will have a background in molecular biology, genomics, or molecular neuroscience, strong programming abilities, and a keen interest in the lab's research. Prior expertise with single-cell genomics, cell culture, or next-generation sequencing is advantageous. The applicant will also be responsible for working closely with the PI to manage daily lab operations, ordering/supplies, contributing to experimental workflows, and training personnel. This is a one-year term position with the possibility of renewal based on funding and satisfactory performance.
