About The Position

The Senior Research Specialist, FIM+DASH will manage day‑to‑day operations of FIM+DASH. The study partners with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and community‑based organizations to deliver cooking classes, nutrition and hypertension education, and healthy food supports (e.g., produce deliveries/vouchers). The Coordinator will (1) oversee and coordinate all study components; (2) supervise the Research Associate II, FIM+DASH and graduate/student employees; (3) oversee hiring and training of data‑collection staff; (4) coordinate all team meetings and assist the PI with administrative tasks; (5) co‑develop policies/SOPs for recruitment, data collection, and intervention with the PI, co‑investigators, and research staff; (6) monitor data‑collection quality, troubleshoot issues, and implement procedural modifications; and (7) oversee recruitment strategy and execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, nutrition/dietetics, nursing, psychology, or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years related research experience, with 2+ years human subjects research coordination (or equivalent clinical research experience)
  • Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods.
  • Proficient in specific lab research techniques
  • Working knowledge of IRB/HIPAA and GCP; demonstrated experience with REDCap and EHR‑based recruitment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft/Google tools; file management in Box/OneDrive
  • Strong organization, documentation, and communication skills; ability to work with adults from diverse, medically underserved communities
  • Access to reliable local travel within Chicago with the ability to work occasional evenings/weekends as study needs require

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates multi channel recruitment (Epic/Slicer Dicer, referrals, patient portal, community outreach); tracks screen/fail and enrollment.
  • Schedules and executes baseline, 12 week, and 6 month visits (clinic/CRC); prepares materials, equipment, and REDCap instruments; follows SOP checklists.
  • Collects and quality checks study data (surveys, NDSR recalls, anthropometrics, clinic BP, VeggieMeter®, wearables); completes source docs and resolve queries.
  • Supervises Research Associate II, FIM+DASH and graduate/student employees; hires/onboards/trains staff; maintains delegation and training logs; creates task lists and SOP quick guides; conducts spot checks.
  • Schedules, manages ,and coordinates with CRC the baseline, 12 week, and 6 month visits.
  • Confirms transportation, childcare supports, interpreters, and incentives.
  • Coordinates intervention logistics with partners/vendors (class rosters, reminders, attendance); tracks produce/voucher dissemination and delivery logs.
  • Maintains regulatory compliance (IRB submissions/mods, AE/SAE reporting, essential documents/eBinder, SOP version control).
  • Runs team operations (agendas/minutes, action item tracking, supply purchasing, inventory) and provides weekly progress updates to the PI.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
