About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Reliability Engineer to provide technical leadership in improving the reliability, availability, and maintainability of critical building systems, infrastructure, and facility assets across life sciences and research environments. This role is responsible for advancing the Reliability Engineering Program through the optimization of CMMS processes, maintenance planning, asset management, and data-driven reliability initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in reliability engineering, maintenance strategy development, and CMMS administration, with a strong understanding of critical facility systems supporting laboratory, research, manufacturing, and GMP-regulated operations. This individual will partner closely with Facilities, Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Quality, and external service providers to improve asset performance, reduce unplanned downtime, and drive continuous improvement across the maintenance and reliability lifecycle. Success in this role requires a hands-on technical leader who can effectively combine reliability engineering principles, maintenance planning, CMMS optimization, and operational excellence to support uninterrupted facility operations and long-term asset performance. This position is internally classified as a Facilities Engineer and will have a primary focus on reliability engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Facilities Engineering, or a related technical discipline required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience may be considered.
  • 8+ years of experience in reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, asset management, maintenance planning, or CMMS administration within life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, commercial real estate, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing reliability-centered maintenance programs and asset management strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with CMMS platforms such as MRI Angus, Maximo, SAP PM, eMaint, or equivalent systems.
  • Experience managing asset hierarchies, preventive maintenance programs, work order processes, equipment records, and maintenance reporting within a CMMS environment.
  • Experience with reliability methodologies including FMEA, RCM, RCFA, criticality analysis, predictive maintenance, and condition monitoring programs.
  • Strong understanding of facility infrastructure and critical building systems, including HVAC, chilled water, hot water, steam, compressed air, electrical distribution, central utility plants, and building automation systems.
  • Experience supporting facility operations within regulated environments, including GMP, GxP, biotech, pharmaceutical, or laboratory facilities preferred.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, startup, qualification, maintenance optimization, and lifecycle asset management initiatives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience developing maintenance metrics, dashboards, and reliability performance reporting.
  • Strong technical knowledge of reliability engineering principles, maintenance planning, and asset performance management.
  • Ability to analyze equipment failures, maintenance trends, and operational data to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Strong understanding of preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance methodologies.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70B electrical maintenance practices, industry standards, and facility reliability best practices preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with facilities personnel, engineers, operations teams, vendors, and executive stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives and influence positive operational change.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively within cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Reliability-focused certifications such as CMRP, CRL, CRE, or equivalent are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead reliability assessments, root cause investigations, failure analysis, and corrective action efforts for critical facility and infrastructure systems.
  • Own and maintain the CMMS platform, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of asset records, preventive maintenance schedules, work order data, equipment documentation, and reporting.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies based on equipment criticality and reliability risk.
  • Analyze equipment performance, downtime trends, maintenance history, and reliability metrics to identify improvement opportunities and drive asset performance.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities in alignment with asset criticality, resource availability, and operational priorities.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance planning processes, work management workflows, and maintenance performance reporting.
  • Support execution of condition monitoring programs, including vibration analysis, infrared thermography, oil analysis, utility monitoring, and other predictive maintenance techniques.
  • Perform and facilitate FMEA, Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), and asset criticality assessments.
  • Partner with Engineering, Facilities, Maintenance, and Operations teams to optimize maintenance programs, spare parts strategies, equipment lifecycle management, and reliability initiatives.
  • Support new equipment installations, facility expansion projects, commissioning, qualification, and startup activities from a reliability and maintainability perspective.
  • Generate and communicate reliability scorecards, PM compliance metrics, work order performance indicators, shared utility uptime metrics, and other key performance measures.
  • Author and maintain SOPs, maintenance procedures, technical work instructions, and reliability program documentation.
  • Ensure maintenance and reliability strategies align with safety, regulatory, GMP, and site operational requirements.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert and provide guidance to maintenance personnel, engineers, and cross-functional project teams.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime, increasing equipment availability, improving maintenance efficiency, and lowering total cost of ownership.
