About The Position

The ideal candidate for a Sr. Regulatory Engineer would be able to own the regulatory compliance strategy for commercial oven product lines, ensuring alignment with global safety, sanitation, emissions, and energy‑efficiency requirements. This role involves leading certification programs with various agencies, serving as a subject‑matter expert on relevant standards and regulations, and guiding product development teams. The position also requires developing regulatory roadmaps, leading investigations into compliance failures, overseeing testing, representing the company externally, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring global market readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in regulatory engineering, product compliance, or certification for commercial appliances, industrial equipment, or related fields.
  • Deep expertise with UL, NSF, ANSI, CSA, IEC, and CE standards applicable to commercial cooking equipment.
  • Proven experience leading certification programs and working directly with UL, Intertek, CSA, NSF, or similar agencies.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety, thermal systems, gas systems, or combustion technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex codes and translate them into actionable engineering requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Own the regulatory compliance strategy for commercial oven product lines, ensuring alignment with global safety, sanitation, emissions, and energy‑efficiency requirements.
  • Lead certification programs with UL, Intertek, CSA, NSF, TÜV, and other agencies, including negotiation of test plans, resolution of findings, and maintenance of product listings.
  • Serve as the subject‑matter expert on UL 197, UL 710, NSF/ANSI standards, EPA/DOE regulations, CE/UKCA directives, and relevant mechanical, electrical, and fire codes.
  • Guide product development teams by providing early‑stage design input, risk assessments, and compliance‑driven design recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain regulatory roadmaps, anticipating future code changes and advising leadership on product impacts and strategic opportunities.
  • Lead complex investigations into compliance failures, field issues, or audit findings, driving root‑cause analysis and long‑term corrective actions.
  • Oversee internal and external testing, ensuring test methods, documentation, and results meet certification and regulatory expectations.
  • Represent the company externally, participating in standards committees, industry groups, and regulatory discussions to influence emerging requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on code interpretation, certification processes, and best practices in compliance engineering.
  • Ensure global market readiness, coordinating with international teams to meet regional requirements and maintain technical files for global approvals.
