About The Position

The Area Specialist is responsible for ensuring unit capacity in their assigned area, serving as the senior operations team member assigned to an area, and will also own operational input into all other longer-term process and be the operations representative to the Business Team. Delek US Holdings is a boutique-sized diversified downstream energy company with a range of assets, including petroleum refining and logistics. Our refineries in Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana have a combined crude capacity of 302,000 barrels per day. Our logistics business currently owns and operates 720 miles of crude and product pipelines, a 600-mile crude oil gathering system, and storage tanks and terminals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Two (2) or more years Experience in leadership role or equivalent military experience (Required)
  • Four (4) or more years Experience in refinery, petrochemical or chemical role required (Required)

  • Physical ability to work on and around industrial equipment, including climbing of stairs, ladders and in confined spaces

Responsibilities

  • Ensures unit capacity in their assigned area.
  • Serves as the senior operations team member assigned to an area.
  • Owns operational input into all other longer-term process.
  • Acts as the operations representative to the Business Team.
  • Provides escalation path for the shift team and supports the day-to-day activities of team within assigned area, as needed, to ensure safe and quality production and meet identified goals.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by owning and approving area operating procedures.
  • Utilizes technical knowledge of assigned area(s) and oversee the reliability and throughput including the development and implementation of operational improvement and efficiency gain strategies.
  • Leads or assists in the investigation and closure of Gensuite incidents in assigned area.
  • Conducts audits and walk-throughs to ensure a safe and compliant operation.
  • Accountable for developing and implementing margin improvement and efficiency plans.
  • Supports Shift Superintendent and Unit Technical Trainer to ensure operator training materials are current and accurate in support of an effective training program.
  • Oversees reliability, compliance, quality and safety programs for assigned area(s).
  • Evaluates alternatives and make decisions in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Plans and maintains unit downtime schedule in support of maintenance activities and business planning.
  • Coordinates with OMC to set maintenance priorities.
  • Provides Planning Premises for Weekly, Monthly, and Annual Plans.
  • Issues daily Operational Guidelines to shift teams.
  • Manages relationships with specialty chemical and catalyst vendors including contract management and materials receipts.
  • Conducts routine, structured monitoring of unit performance.
  • Leads the Area Business Team through short term threat resolution and issues escalated from shift team.
  • Acts as contract Holder for Area contracts and track and manage variable expenses in area of responsibility.
  • Coordinates with departments optimization of product onsite (Loss Control).
  • Ensures compliance with DOT regulations for operated pipelines including but not limited to integrity management program, Operator qualifications, pipeline public awareness requirements and drug and alcohol testing.
  • Ensures compliance with railroad operations both DOT and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA); and United States Coast Guard compliance for all dock operations at the site.
  • Performs Data Analysis, Reporting, Task/Time Management, Planning/Organizing, Troubleshooting, Issue Management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
