About The Position

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is excited to welcome a Sr Recreation Facility Manager to the team! This position will report to the Recreation Manager and will be responsible for the management and operations of Northern Regional Recreation Center. The facility offers recreation services and programs in aquatics, fitness, senior adults, technology, childcare, and more to visitors and members of our community. In addition, the Sr Recreation Facility Manager will oversee marketing, administration, and maintenance operations at the facility. The selected candidate will also participate in budget planning/implementation, and monitor achievement of operational goals. In partnership with the Recreation Manager, they will also directly and indirectly supervise all facility staff and all subordinate supervisors. The successful candidate will have experience providing recreation programs to diverse audiences and have a commitment to ensuring their staff is equipped to do so as well. This full-time position will be required to work some evenings, rotating weekends, and holidays based on event and facility needs. Requirements

  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in recreation programming
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience or completion of an approved supervisory training program
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Administration, Park and Recreation or related field
  • Valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License and County Driving Privileges
  • Basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Fiscal management experience highly preferred
  • At least 7 years’ experience in large-scale recreation programs administration

Responsibilities

  • Manage program and customer service staff, programs and maintenance
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with agencies, neighborhood groups and user groups for developing an effective recreation plan for the community
  • Manage all contracts with agencies, vendors and instructors
  • Manage fiscal management, budget planning, implementation, execution and monitoring achievement of defined facility revenue and expense goals
  • Monitor facility revenue through daily admissions, facility passes, fitness, wellness, and recreation programs, and facility rentals
  • Manage and monitors vendor, agency and individual contracts
  • Participate in staff conferences in planning comprehensive recreation programs
  • Investigate and take action on requests, suggestions or complaints concerning recreation services
  • Provide leadership by introducing new programs, equipment and facilities to staff members and the community
  • Purchase equipment and supplies as needed
  • Responsible for inventory control of equipment and materials allocated to programs
