About The Position

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. As a Sr. Quality Technologist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact with the following opportunities: Responsible for performing and guiding technical activities resulting from approved self-initiated or assigned quality programs leading to innovative applications and extensions of existing or new quality programs having major importance to the business unit level. Establishes and cultivates an extensive network of resources (laboratory, operations, engineering, and planning) to facilitate completion of assignments. Actively participates in project planning. Establishes project objectives and priorities. Maintains an awareness of quality improvement and product opportunities and is productive in suggesting and testing ideas. Develops and implements quality systems and processes of major complexity. Documents results, observations and conclusions in technical notebooks (or approved electronic files) and prepares reports to communicate results to appropriate personnel. May occasionally train, counsel, and guide technicians, chemists, and engineers. Demonstrated ability to lead teams and projects is required. Functions as an effective team leader and promotes harmonious and efficient working relationships.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start).
  • Minimum of 10 (Ten) years of relevant Quality Control laboratory experience in a chemical or manufacturing environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
  • Ability to provide education and work history.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering or scientific discipline.
  • Proficient in the use of basic quality tools: flowcharts, check sheets, histograms, Pareto charts, run charts/control charts, cause and effect diagrams, and scatter plots.
  • Good working knowledge of basic quality systems (e.g. Quality Manuals, ISO-9000 or industry equivalent, metrology and calibration).
  • Good working knowledge of a consistent process improvement methodology such as PDCA or DMAIC.
  • Proficient in the use of basic statistical tools (basic statistical data analysis, Analysis of Variance, Gage R&R, and Statistical Process Capability and Control).
  • Good working knowledge of intermediate-level quality and statistical tools (Sampling, regression, design of experiments, etc).
  • General awareness of advanced-level statistics (modeling, optimization, reliability, multivariate, etc).
