About The Position

Tekmetric is seeking a Sr. Public Relations Manager to lead its external communications strategy. This role is crucial for shaping Tekmetric's industry position through earned media, executive thought leadership, and compelling storytelling. The ideal candidate will go beyond traditional PR, understanding the impact of AI and "share of model" on brand credibility. This is a high-visibility, individual contributor role focused on building earned authority and representing Tekmetric at the highest levels.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree and/or 8+ years of experience in public relations, communications, or a closely related field.
Proven track record of building and executing earned media strategies that drive meaningful, measurable results.
Deep experience in executive communications, thought leadership development, or executive visibility programs.
Strong, established relationships with media, with a track record of securing high-quality placements.
Experience in B2B, SaaS, or technology communications, ideally in a vertical or industry-specific context with a non-desk or field-based end audience.
A working understanding of how GEO and AI search are reshaping PR strategy, and the curiosity and drive to stay ahead of it.
Exceptional writing, editing, and messaging skills.
High executive presence and interpersonal polish.
Ability to navigate ambiguity, lead without a roadmap, and bring structure to programs being built for the first time.
Proven track record of working cross-functionally, especially with Product, Sales, and executive stakeholders.
Experience managing media sponsorships, event media partnerships, or conference PR strategy.

Nice To Haves

Experience marketing to field-based, non-desk, or trade audiences (or anything adjacent to the skilled trades / local service economy).
Familiarity with PR tools like Meltwater, Muck Rack or Cision, and emerging AI visibility tracking tools.
Familiarity with how AI search is changing discovery—and curiosity to test how content earns visibility and trust in that environment.

Responsibilities

Build and lead the executive thought leadership program, positioning Tekmetric's leadership team as authoritative voices.
Develop and execute a proactive, systematic approach to positioning leadership for speaking opportunities, contributed content, and media appearances.
Own and evolve the earned media strategy for the AI era, focusing on data-driven storytelling and relationships with trade and business press.
Build a sustainable earned media engine that positions Tekmetric as the defining voice in auto repair technology, considering GEO and AI visibility.
Drive the founder-led content engine, developing an authentic, high-impact content program.
Lead media partnerships and conference PR for Tektonic, Tekmetric's flagship annual event.
Partner with Product on launches to craft narratives that drive coverage and industry conversation.
Position leaders as subject matter experts across various departments.
Package and tell the stories of Tekmetric's philanthropic and community impact.
Own and maximize Tekmetric's portfolio of media and trade sponsorships.
Apply a GEO-forward lens to all PR activities, treating AI visibility as a core metric.
Define and track key PR signals, including earned media reach, placement quality, executive visibility, and brand mention sentiment in AI-generated answers.
Build reporting that connects PR activity to business outcomes and communicate progress to senior stakeholders.
