About The Position

This role is in Textron System’s Sea Systems business area. The Sr. Project Manager will manage all phases of programs from inception through completion, being responsible for cost, schedule, and technical performance of company programs or subsystems of major programs. This role acts as the primary customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with customers to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance. The candidate will establish milestones and monitor master plans and schedules, establish cost controls, and monitor adherence to contract requirements, reporting and justifying costs. They will also establish and monitor adherence to program plans including schedule and risk management, resource planning, requirements management, and cash flow management. Additionally, the role involves designing and executing formal capture plans and monitoring competitor activity for each capture. The candidate is expected to exercise sound judgment within broadly defined practices and policies, regularly interact with all levels of management, technical staff, and customers, and display a high degree of tact and diplomacy. Demonstrated ability to translate technical requirements into executable program plans and drive technical decision-making with engineering leadership is crucial. Experience with risk identification and mitigation related to software development, systems integration, and technology maturation is required. The ability to partner closely with engineering leads to ensure scope clarity, technical feasibility, and schedule adherence is also essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • 5+ years of related experience in a similar role, industry, or functional area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Engineering and/or an MBA preferred.
  • Certification in Defense Program Management.
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Experience delivering products in regulated or mission‑critical domains (aerospace, defense, complex systems, etc.) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and monitor adherence to program plans including schedule and risk management, resource planning, requirements management, and cash flow management.
  • Prepare and issues operational and program directives and controlling product configuration.
  • Design and execute formal capture plans and monitor competitor activity for each capture.
  • Exercise sound judgment within broadly defined practices and policies; regularly interact with all levels of management, technical staff, and customers; and display a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical requirements into executable program plans and drive technical decision‑making with engineering leadership.
