Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in commercial construction project management with a general contractor, including demonstrated advancement into senior leadership responsibility.
  • 10+ years of experience leading and managing the build process for data center and mission critical projects, including direct oversight of multiple concurrent large-scale projects ($100M+ each).
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, high-value project portfolios and P&L responsibility at scale.
  • Proven experience mentoring, developing, and building capability within project management teams.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage highly complex, large-scale datacenter, mission critical, and manufacturing project(s), including portfolios upwards of $150M–$250M+ and/or multiple concurrent large-scale projects.
  • Serve as the senior operational leader on assigned projects, providing strategic direction and final accountability across preconstruction (estimating, buy out, logistics, scheduling, and pursuits) through closeout.
  • Own the operational plan for a portfolio of projects and partner directly with the Business Unit Lead (BUL) on new revenue pursuits, presentations, and long-range business strategy.
  • Advance and own executive-level client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor who directly supports the BUL in growing the business portfolio and profitability.
  • Recruit, oversee, and manage contract staff (1099’s & consultants) as well as internal project teams, ensuring appropriate staffing across a multi-project portfolio.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and project engineers, building bench strength and succession depth across the business unit.
  • Provide expert-level review of conceptual/schematic scope narratives, specifications, and drawings, delivering constructability input that directly influences design decisions.
  • Ensure timely, high-quality project closeout across all assigned projects, holding project teams accountable to GCON’s closeout standards.
  • Maintain full engagement with trade partners, the Architect/Engineer (A/E) team, and clients through accountability and collaboration; establish project vision and drive the sharing of lessons learned enterprise-wide.
  • Demonstrate advanced, portfolio-level financial capability: budget, forecast, monitor, course correct, and advise executive leadership on financial performance across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Own the cadence of the Last Planner System (LPS) and continuous improvement activities across staff and trade partner workforce, mentoring site leadership on execution.
  • Champion the development and enforcement of a comprehensive Quality Control (QC) Plan across project teams, holding teams accountable to GCON standards.
  • Own the completion, approval, and ongoing management of the Project Execution Plan and Risk Matrix for all assigned projects, escalating exposures as needed.
  • Identify exposures and lead executive-level negotiation of cost overruns with clients to mitigate margin fade and maximize company profitability; develop and drive action plans to mitigate risk and capture earning enhancement opportunities.
  • Evaluate leading and lagging safety indicators across the full project portfolio and drive corrective action, holding site leadership accountable.
  • Institute and champion safety as a non-negotiable standard across all aspects of construction processes.
  • Share safety lessons learned across the business unit and serve as a visible safety culture leader.
  • Influence peers, trade partners, and leadership on EH&S programs to improve culture and daily business practices business-unit-wide.
  • Lead the facilitation and documentation of GSTEPS with owners and key project stakeholders on high-profile, complex projects.
  • Exemplify GCON values of stewardship in the community by taking on leadership roles in industry and community organizations that foster collaboration and community support.
