About The Position

BHC Consultants is seeking a full-time Sr. Project Engineer/Project Manager with experience in stormwater management planning, modeling, and design to join their engineering group. The role involves collaborating with staff across three office locations (Seattle, Tacoma, and Bellingham, Washington), with a preference for the candidate's preferred location. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Washington PE license or, for out-of-state candidates, Washington PE license within 6 months of hire.
  • 10+ years demonstrated success working on multi-disciplinary and stormwater engineering projects including planning, modeling, design, permitting, and services during construction.
  • Strong technical leadership, mentoring and project management background.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with stormwater modeling software (e.g. MGS Flood, WWHM, SWMM, HEC-RAS)
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Working knowledge and understanding of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS software products.

  • Established clientele and professional relationships
  • Experience reviewing drainage permit applications for regulatory agencies and municipalities in accordance with appropriate stormwater codes and manuals.
  • Knowledge and experience working with stormwater permits, such as the NPDES Phase II Stormwater Permit, Industrial Stormwater General Permit, and the Construction Stormwater General Permit.
  • Experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS and/or Revit (BIM) design software products.

Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in the continued growth of the company by identifying and developing new client relationships and projects and by helping to maintain relationships and execute projects with existing clients.
  • Demonstrate strong project management skills including the ability to develop scopes of work, budgets, and schedules during project planning, and the ability to deliver quality projects on time and within budget.
  • Independently coordinate staffing and workload throughout the entire project development and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule.
  • Track financial aspects of projects and coordinate and adjust work effort with the team to ensure work is completed.
  • Be primarily responsible for executing projects involving stormwater but also be flexible in working on other civil engineering projects based on workload and projects needs.
  • Demonstrate strong writing skills for the purpose of preparing reports and technical documents, such as stormwater drainage reports in accordance with the local stormwater requirements (primarily Ecology Stormwater Management Manual and King County Surface Water Design Manual).
  • Demonstrate experience preparing construction contract documents, including engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimated for public works projects.
