About The Position

SCS Engineers is looking for a Senior Engineer and/or Project Manager to perform solid waste projects. This role can be hybrid in our Duluth, GA office. We are seeking a team player with a desire for professional development. The successful candidate will prepare engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and permit applications, and will serve as the Engineer of Record on projects for public and private clients. Responsibilities include engineering design, client communications, and staff coordination and development. The primary focus of project responsibility will be on solid waste management, including landfill gas, landfills and landfill infrastructure, composting, and other projects that may require design, engineering, permitting, construction, and operations support.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering required.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including working knowledge and demonstrated consulting experience specific to the solid waste industry (landfill gas management, air compliance, landfill design and permitting, etc.) required.
• Georgia P.E (preferably civil) registration required or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months.
• Competent with using MS Office and other computer software normally used in environmental consulting.
• Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D design software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and permit applications.
• Serve as the Engineer of Record on projects for public and private clients.
• Perform engineering design.
• Manage client communications.
• Coordinate and develop staff.
• Focus on solid waste management projects, including landfill gas, landfills and landfill infrastructure, composting, and other related projects.
• Provide design, engineering, permitting, construction, and operations support.
• Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering and scientific principles and practices in solid waste assignment areas and related fields.
• Work independently on engineering or scientific problems and methods.
• Plan and coordinate work.
• Represent SCS at meetings and conferences.
• Perform field work, including but not limited to, surveys/data gathering, CQA liner installations, and inspections.
• Perform office-based tasks, including but not limited to, CAD drafting, mathematical calculations, report writing, creating site plans and facility diagrams, and preparing permit applications.
• Engage in business development activities, including proposal preparation, meeting with clients, and attending industry-related conferences/trade shows.
• Receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans or projects.
