The Sr Production Operator performs a broad range of production-floor tasks, including machine operation, packaging, material handling, and shipping packages as needed. Under limited supervision, the role applies considerable production operations knowledge to moderately difficult assignments that require judgment and may involve resolving issues or making recommendations. The operator performs packaging and batch-making functions, prepares production according to current production and quality-control procedures, guidelines, and SOPs, and assists with monitoring operations and the availability of raw materials and packaging components. The role uses PLC and PC applications to operate the production line; performs reconciliations; breaks down and assembles production machines; troubleshoots equipment issues; and performs minor equipment maintenance. The operator follows Good Manufacturing Practices and applicable manufacturing SOPs, completes paperwork for batching and packaging, and maintains logs, batch records, and other documentation according to internal SOPs. The position also supports a clean and safe plant, performs production duties as needed, and safely loads and unloads raw materials and finished products using a forklift and other material-handling devices. Material Handler duties may also be required. The operator regularly contacts people in other departments and outside organizations to obtain or provide information. Routine daily work normally requires no instruction, while newly introduced assignments receive general instructions. As directed by the immediate supervisor, the operator may assist Production Operator I and II with more complex support tasks, escalate issues to a supervisor when appropriate, stay current on process changes, and assist with assigned projects and other duties. Additional responsibilities may focus on particular departments or locations.
