About The Position

The Sr. Product Manager functionality leads product management and analytics for assigned products for JM, identifying trends in product experience, financial and operational performance, and market/competitor dynamics. Translates complex data into clear insights and strategic recommendations that improve profitability, customer value, regulatory compliance, and operational execution. Serves as a senior subject matter expert and cross-functional leader for product initiatives, filings, and enterprise projects, supporting the specialized insurance protection and financial security provided to our customers. Jewelers Mutual Group has been protecting the jewelry industry for over 113 years, and we’re now pairing that deep domain expertise with a ground-up technology transformation. Our engineering team in Raleigh is building a serverless, event-driven platform on AWS, a modern data stack on Databricks, and an enterprise AI capability designed to change how insurance works. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics/Statistics, Risk Management/Insurance, Analytics) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in insurance product management, product analytics, underwriting, pricing, actuarial support, or closely related work.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex analyses and translating results into clear recommendations for senior/executive audiences.
  • Strong working knowledge of personal lines and/or specialty insurance products, product performance metrics, and portfolio monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of insurance regulatory concepts and filing support (or significant experience partnering with compliance/legal on regulated product changes).
  • Advanced analytical skills with experience building exhibits, dashboards, and repeatable reporting (e.g., Excel and data/BI tools); ability to work with large/complex datasets.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality work with minimal oversight.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence stakeholders and facilitate decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree (MBA, MS in Analytics/Statistics/Economics, or related).
  • 10+ years of experience in product, pricing, underwriting, actuarial, or product strategy within a P&C insurance environment.
  • Experience supporting rate/product filings, including preparation of exhibits/manual pages and coordination of internal review/approvals.
  • Professional designation(s) such as CPCU, ARM, ARe, CSPA, or progress toward ACAS/FCAS (or other relevant credentials).
  • Advanced proficiency with SQL and/or BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and experience partnering with data teams on metric definitions and data quality.
  • Experience leading or influencing system/process modernization efforts impacting product administration, reporting, or operational workflows.
  • Prior people leadership, formal mentoring, or demonstrated experience coaching/developing analysts or junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior product expert supporting corporate actions, strategic initiatives, and operational priorities; provide authoritative guidance to partners across underwriting, claims, distribution, compliance, finance, legal, and operations.
  • Lead complex product analysis and pricing support efforts, including development of product and pricing exhibits, scenarios, and executive-ready decision materials.
  • Own and monitor overall product performance across the Jewelers Mutual book of business; proactively surface trends, risks, and opportunities to senior leaders with recommended actions.
  • Partner with business unit leaders and compliance/legal stakeholders to ensure adherence to state insurance regulations and internal governance standards.
  • Lead and manage the end-to-end filing support process for assigned products, including producing and reviewing exhibits, manual pages, forms, and supporting documentation; ensure quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Lead research, analysis, and business case development for new product ideas, product enhancements, and coverage/eligibility changes; interpret results and recommend actionable next steps.
  • Proactively identify, build, and influence recommendations for product enhancements, restrictions, segmentation, and feature changes for current and proposed offerings; articulate impacts on customers, operations, and financial performance.
  • Organize and document findings from studies and initiatives; develop implementation recommendations that may include system changes, workflow/process redesign, policy/procedure updates, or organizational changes.
  • Contribute to and influence annual company and department business planning, including pro-forma financial projections, forecasting assumptions, and performance target setting.
  • Represent the department and company on cross-functional projects, committees, and working groups; lead workstreams and drive progress through ambiguity.
  • Develop and maintain product performance dashboards, reporting, and repeatable analytical routines; continuously improve tools, definitions, and data integrity in partnership with data/analytics teams.
  • Build and maintain a working knowledge of company policies and procedures, and ensure product work aligns with internal controls, documentation standards, and audit readiness.
  • Mentor and coach others (including analysts and cross-functional partners) on Jewelers Mutual products, product performance interpretation, and best practices in product analysis and decision support.
  • May provide direction to junior team members and/or coordinate resources across project teams to deliver outcomes on time and with high quality
