Sr. Product Manager, Video Services

Motorola SolutionsVancouver, BC
CA$120,000 - CA$150,000

About The Position

As the Sr. Product Manager, Video Services, you will serve as a critical internal partner and platform product leader. In this primarily internally-facing role, you will define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for our common web video player and underlying streaming architecture, collaborating directly with product teams across Motorola Solutions to understand their needs and deliver scalable media capabilities. You will lead product initiatives to power video playback for the Avigilon portfolio (Alta and Unity) while extending core streaming technologies into public safety applications (CommandCentral Aware), public-private partnerships (PPP), and edge deployment models via SafetyHub appliances. Working side-by-side with engineering teams specializing in low-latency video streaming, WebCodecs, and real-time media, you will ensure our platform delivers unified, high-performing video experiences across every product line we support.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product management experience delivering technical software products, cloud services, or developer-facing video capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of media streaming architectures, video surveillance/security systems, or real-time communication technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to converse deeply with engineering teams on topics like video codecs (H.264, H.265, VP9, AV1), web video delivery protocols (HLS, WebRTC), and modern web architectures (Web Components, WebSockets/SignalR).
  • Proven track record of aligning product strategy across multiple enterprise product lines and disparate engineering organizations.
  • Bachelors Degree
  • 5+ years of Product Management experience

Nice To Haves

  • Prior product management or technical experience with video streaming platforms or products (e.g., VMS systems, IP cameras, video conferencing).
  • Familiarity with edge appliance workflows, hybrid cloud-edge topologies, or public-private video sharing initiatives.
  • Technical background in web application technology, media decoding frameworks (e.g., WebCodecs API), or low-latency video streaming optimization.
  • Strong analytical, qualitative, and quantitative skills to measure performance, latency metrics, and user adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product strategy and execution roadmap for Motorola Solutions' common web-based video player and underlying video streaming services.
  • Bridge video streaming capabilities between enterprise security platforms (Avigilon Unity and Avigilon Alta), enterprise resilience solutions, and public safety environments (i.e. MSI Aware) to enable seamless video delivery across domain boundaries.
  • Define product requirements and streaming approaches for public-private partnership workflows and edge deployment models, including integration with SafetyHub appliances.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to guide feature development for our modular, Web Component-based web player—including real-time live streaming, low-latency playback, interactive PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera controls, synchronized timeline playback, snapshot features, and multi-user spectator modes.
  • Evaluate emerging video technologies, protocols, and APIs (such as WebCodecs, WebRTC, HLS.js, and SignalR) to ensure our streaming infrastructure meets strict requirements for performance, scaling, low latency, and cross-browser support.
  • Work closely with UX, customer-facing product managers, solution architects, and public safety stakeholders to gather requirements, validate feature specs, and drive adoption across product lines.
  • Define product success metrics, synthesize customer feedback, write detailed user stories, and partner with agile development teams throughout the product lifecycle.

Benefits

  • Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
