About The Position

The Sr. Product Data Analyst is a business-facing role on UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare Advantage Product Capabilities team. The team provides management, strategic oversight, subject matter expertise, data analytics and delivery, stewardship, and production support for technical assets that distribute Medicare Advantage product and benefit data across the enterprise. Its goal is to create sustainable solutions and improve operational efficiency wherever Medicare Advantage product data is needed. This analyst specializes in managing eligibility and benefit programs and supporting vendors that administer supplemental Medicare Advantage benefits, such as fitness or transportation. The role responds to data and ad hoc analysis needs from vendors and internal stakeholders, ensuring eligibility data is accurate, compliant with CMS regulations and UnitedHealth Group standards, and delivered according to established business requirements. The analyst applies knowledge of Medicare Advantage product processes and data to help ensure data products support a seamless member experience, working with product owners, account managers, IT partners, vendors, and other UnitedHealth Group teams. The role may be performed remotely for candidates within commuting distance of Minnetonka, Minnesota, or Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. Hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area are required to work in the office at least four days per week. Remote employees must follow UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience developing complex SQL solutions, with advanced or expert-level SQL proficiency.
At least 3 years of experience with scripting or programming languages; Python is preferred.
At least 3 years of data analysis and reporting experience.
At least 3 years of experience supporting Medicare Advantage programs, with a solid understanding of the Medicare Advantage line of business.

Nice To Haves

Experience creating or maintaining Python scripts for ad hoc file manipulation.
Experience with cloud-based databases such as Snowflake or Databricks.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with external vendors and internal stakeholders to design, implement, and support data solutions.
Investigate and troubleshoot data-related production issues, working with technology teams to resolve impacts to internal stakeholders and external partners.
Support implementation and ongoing management of data exchanges with external vendors and benefit administrators.
Validate, reconcile, and monitor eligibility, utilization, and benefit data to ensure accurate downstream reporting and vendor data exchanges.
Develop a thorough understanding of Medicare Product, Claims, and member eligibility processes, and collaborate with business subject matter experts to shape solutions, perform analyses, and interpret data.
Support leadership teams with ad hoc data analysis, primarily using SQL Server and Snowflake, and present findings.
Deliver high-quality, scalable, sustainable data solutions that follow team standards and require minimal rework.
Independently drive work to completion while collaborating effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Contribute to analysis, problem definition, requirements, and proposed solutions.
Maintain and expand technical expertise through continuing education, industry networking, and evaluation of emerging development tools and programming techniques.
Provide timely status updates and communicate risks, dependencies, and project progress to stakeholders.
Provide technical leadership by guiding project teams toward established goals and promoting adherence to design standards.
