About The Position

The Sr. Procurement Specialist is a key and essential supply chain role responsible for leading strategic sourcing, supplier performance, and complex project procurement execution across North America. This position serves as a primary procurement lead across Engineering, Project Management, Quality, Shipping, Finance, Legal, and other key stakeholders to ensure material and service requirements are aligned, sourced effectively, and delivered in support of customer commitments, project timelines, and business objectives. The role requires strong commercial judgment, independent decision-making, and cross-functional influence, along with the ability to drive cost optimization, supplier accountability, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across procurement activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in procurement, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field; advanced business or supply chain education preferred.
  • Seven or more years of experience in procurement, supply chain, strategic sourcing, or project procurement within a complex technical, manufacturing, or project-based environment.
  • Strong understanding of sourcing, bidding, negotiation, contract administration, supplier management, commercial evaluation, total cost considerations, and procurement governance.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Project Management, Finance, Legal, Quality, Shipping, and operations stakeholders, without direct authority.
  • Ability to identify commercial risks, supplier constraints, contract exposures, and execution issues, and communicate them clearly to support timely and effective decision-making.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a dynamic business environment.
  • Experience with SAP or a similar ERP platform, along with high proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement-related reporting and documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with category management, supplier performance management, contract development, and procurement support for complex or high-value projects preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, C.P.M., or similar credentials are considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Own procurement planning and sourcing strategy for dedicated projects in close partnership with Project Management and relevant business stakeholders.
  • Lead bid development, supplier engagement, commercial evaluation, negotiation support, and purchasing execution to ensure goods and services are procured in alignment with project scope, schedule, quality expectations, total cost considerations, and overall business priorities, including complex and critical-path requirements.
  • Lead supplier identification, qualification, and bid package development while establishing strong commercial foundations through contract support, supplier performance management, sourcing strategy execution, and proactive risk identification.
  • Drive resolution of supplier and contract-related issues, influence stakeholders on commercially sound decisions, and escalate risks early to improve procurement outcomes, protect project continuity, and reduce operational and contractual exposure.
  • Drive consistent application of procurement standards, category strategies, and sourcing workflows across projects and purchasing activities.
  • Lead the preparation and execution of procurement plans, purchase orders, amendments, and related documentation while reinforcing compliance, process transparency, and disciplined execution. Identify opportunities to improve supplier governance, procurement efficiency, and overall operational performance through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Influence alignment across Engineering, Project Management, Quality, Shipping, Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders to prioritize procurement actions, resolve issues proactively, and support commercial and operational decision-making.
  • Serve as a trusted procurement partner on dedicated capital projects by ensuring procurement activities are coordinated, well-communicated, and responsive to project and business needs, while reinforcing execution discipline and continuity across related supply chain activity.
