Sr Process Engineer, LP-DED Additive

Relativity SpaceLong Beach, CA

About The Position

Relativity Space is building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. The LP-DED team is a new team dedicated to implementing and productionizing LP-DED for S1 Skirt for Aeon-R. This team will take this metal powder based additive process from initial prints on the factory floor and building out the production work center, all the way to fully-optimized, high-rate production to support our ramp goals. The role will drive the implementation of LP-DED Additive into production, enabling a rapid ramp-rate for Aeon-R production. This includes developing, validating, and optimizing operations, processes, and the LP-DED workcenter to enable reliable at-rate production while maintaining quality, cost, and safety targets. The role will also drive projects for improvement of process efficiency/throughput for LP-DED, define and deploy process controls, standard work, and documentation that scale with increasing production demand, develop procedures for deposition operations, calibration, preventative maintenance, etc., and lead troubleshooting and root-cause investigations on first-time and recurring issues, implementing sustainable corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace, mechanical, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing environments, with a focus on producing high-stakes, mission-critical hardware.
  • 3+ years of direct experience in additive operations, additive manufacturing (powder-based preferred), and post-processing, specifically in a production environment.
  • Experience authoring work instructions and/or process procedures to manufacture complex assemblies.
  • Experience interfacing with design engineering, manufacturing, and production personnel in a production environment.
  • Experience in executing and driving projects in a fast-paced environment.
