About The Position

The Applied Machine Learning Group creates personalized streaming experiences that transform how audiences find, interact with, and enjoy content on Paramount+ and Pluto TV. We use audience intelligence and content knowledge with advanced machine learning to help users discover things in real-time and offer personalized interaction, creating new short-form and interactive viewing experiences. Our work directly connects millions of viewers to the stories they love while guiding meaningful business impact for Paramount Streaming. We are looking for a Senior Principal of Technical Product Management to lead product strategy and execution, defining the direction for personalization and recommendation systems in Paramount’s global streaming services. This leader will own the vision, roadmap, and measurable impact of AI-driven discovery experiences, spanning recommendations and ranking, real-time personalization, content intelligence and embeddings, experimentation platforms and decisioning, and short-form and emerging discovery surfaces. You will work closely with engineering, data science, design, analytics, and executive teams to ensure our personalization platforms enhance involvement, retention, and lifetime value for diverse global audiences. This is a highly strategic and technical management role responsible not only for what we build, but how personalization evolves as a core capability of Paramount Streaming.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of recommender systems: Collaborative, content-based, hybrid, and deep learning approaches; Ranking, retrieval, and real-time personalization
  • Strong understanding of: Reinforcement learning, bandits, and exploration strategies; Evaluation metrics, bias mitigation, and fairness in AI
  • Experience with: ML lifecycle from research to production; Real-time vs batch decisioning architectures; Data pipelines, feature stores, and model serving; MLOps, monitoring, and experimentation systems
  • Expert-level understanding of: A/B testing and statistical inference; Large-scale experimentation platforms; SQL, Python, and data visualization workflows
  • Ability to translate data into clear product direction
  • Proven track record defining AI-driven product strategy with measurable impact
  • Experience prioritizing investments across technical complexity, UX value, and revenue outcomes
  • Strong executive communication and strategic storytelling
  • Experience leading senior PMs or multi-team product areas
  • Ability to align engineering, science, design, and business leaders
  • Strong influence across matrixed global organizations
  • Demonstrated proficiency with coding tools (e.g., Python, SQL, IDEs) and platforms (e.g., GitHub) necessary for conducting technical analysis and proof-of-concept development
  • Familiarity with leveraging AI coding assistants and modern development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Gemini for developers) to accelerate rapid prototyping and technical investigation
  • Ability to independently create and demonstrate basic Proofs of Concept (POCs) for recommendation and personalization features
  • 15+ years in product management, including 8+ years leading AI/ML or personalization products
  • People leadership of senior PMs or equivalent scope
  • Demonstrated success delivering large-scale recommender or discovery systems in: Streaming, consumer tech, marketplaces, or social platforms
  • Deep technical fluency across ML, data, and distributed systems
  • Hands-on technical fluency to the point of being able to develop basic Proofs of Concept (POCs) and prototypes for new product ideas, utilizing modern coding tools and AI development assistants
  • Strong business intuition tied to involvement, retention, and monetization
  • Passion for storytelling, entertainment, and the future of streaming

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the multi-year personalization and recommendation strategy across Paramount+ and Pluto TV
  • Translate company-level goals into scalable AI/ML product investments with clear business impact
  • Find and create new methods for discovery, using real-time data and various techniques, including creating personalized short-form content
  • Represent personalization strategy at the executive and cross-company level
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of technical product managers
  • Establish operating rhythms, product standards, and roadmap governance across personalization
  • Encourage a culture that values data and experimentation, with all teams working collaboratively
  • Influence roadmaps across UX, growth, marketing, and content strategy
  • Own north-star metrics for personalization, including involvement, retention, and LTV
  • Ensure rigorous A/B testing, causal inference, and experimentation at scale
  • Balance short-term wins with long-term platform investment
  • Communicate impact clearly to executive stakeholders and business management
  • Stay at the forefront of recommender systems and deep learning, reinforcement learning and bandits, multimodal AI and generative discovery, and streaming UX and consumer behavior
  • Bring external perspective and best practices from leading consumer tech and media companies
