About The Position

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Safety Engineer to support the BQM-34 Targets program in Rancho Bernardo, California. The engineer will apply systems engineering and safety engineering principles to identify, assess, and mitigate hazards across the system lifecycle. The role plans and executes safety analyses and validates safety requirements and assumptions against design and test evidence. The position requires an active DoD Secret clearance; the selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain higher-level clearances if program needs evolve. Travel is 10% of the time. Relocation assistance is not available. The engineer will work across systems, software, hardware, integration and test, and reliability disciplines. The role includes developing safety requirements, conducting analyses and validation activities, preparing safety documentation, and presenting findings and recommendations to program and customer stakeholders.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related STEM discipline and 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in systems engineering and/or systems safety engineering on complex systems.
  • Experience performing or supporting safety or reliability analyses, such as hazard analysis, FMEA/FMECA, FTA, or similar.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain higher-level clearances if program needs evolve.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions.

Nice To Haves
