About The Position

Dell Technologies is hiring a Sr. Principal System Engineer for its Data Center solution and validation team in Austin, Texas. The role is part of the Emerging Technologies Engineering organization, which works on Dell’s AI server portfolio, L11 rack-scale solutions, and cluster-scale deployments. The engineer leads architecture, development, integration, validation, and lifecycle support for next-generation AI server, storage, networking, and rack-scale infrastructure platforms. They serve as a technical authority for PCI Express, memory, power delivery, and systems management technologies throughout the product lifecycle, from concept development and deployment through sustaining engineering and customer support. The role drives platform innovation, quality, reliability, and performance in collaboration with silicon vendors, ODMs, manufacturing, quality, firmware, systems engineering, and hyperscale customers. It also provides strategic technical leadership across engineering organizations, leads critical investigations and customer escalations, and influences future platform architectures and long-term strategy.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or a related field.
15+ years of hardware engineering, platform architecture, and infrastructure development experience.
Deep expertise in server and rack-scale electrical architecture, including PCIe Gen4/5/6, memory subsystems (DDR4/DDR5/HBM/RDIMM/MRDIMM), and high-speed signaling (SI/PI).
Extensive experience in power delivery architecture, power integrity, BMC systems management, telemetry, diagnostics, and platform serviceability.
Proven leadership driving complex hardware programs from concept through production, including validation, qualification, manufacturing, reliability, and root-cause investigations.
Strong executive presence and a track record of leading technical reviews and customer engagements and influencing cross-functional engineering strategy.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Experience with AI/HPC platforms, including NVIDIA accelerator architectures, emerging technologies (CXL, PCIe Gen7, memory pooling), and advanced platform management ecosystems.
Expertise in hyperscale datacenter infrastructure, including rack-scale power and liquid cooling architectures, deployment and integration, hardware resiliency and failure analysis, EDA/signal integrity tools, and collaboration with silicon vendors, ODMs, cloud providers, and strategic customers.

Responsibilities

Define and drive PCIe, memory, power, and systems management architecture roadmaps, standards, and design requirements for next-generation AI infrastructure platforms.
Lead platform validation, compliance, interoperability, reliability, and performance initiatives, resolving complex issues involving PCIe, memory subsystems, power delivery, and manageability technologies.
Own platform quality and customer escalations by leading root-cause investigations, corrective actions, risk assessments, and continuous improvement efforts.
Serve as the senior technical authority, influencing architecture governance, technology investments, cross-functional engineering decisions, and long-term platform strategy.
Mentor engineering leaders, champion engineering excellence, and communicate technical direction, risks, and recommendations to executives, customers, and stakeholders.
Lead architecture, development, integration, validation, and lifecycle support of AI server, storage, networking, and rack-scale infrastructure platforms.
Partner with silicon vendors, ODMs, manufacturing, quality, firmware, systems engineering, and hyperscale customers.
Lead critical technical investigations, root-cause analysis, and field escalations.
Provide strategic technical leadership to help ensure infrastructure solutions are robust, scalable, serviceable, and highly available.
