This role will involve maintaining, configuring, and supporting enterprise IT systems, including servers, networks, and virtual environments. The administrator will monitor system performance, ensure availability, reliability, and security of infrastructure, and apply system updates, patches, and security configurations. Troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, managing user accounts, and supporting backup/recovery efforts are key responsibilities. Collaboration with cybersecurity and engineering teams to ensure compliance with standards like STIGs and RMF, and maintaining system documentation are also crucial aspects of the role. The position offers opportunities to learn advanced system administration techniques, cybersecurity compliance frameworks, modern monitoring and logging tools, system hardening, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience administering Windows and/or Linux-based systems.
  • Experience with system patching, updates, and security configurations.
  • Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., RMF, STIGs, NIST).
  • Experience with tools such as Splunk, Syslog servers, or endpoint protection platforms.
  • Scripting experience (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Security+, Network+, RHCSA, MCSA).
  • Experience working in regulated or government environments.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, configure, and support enterprise IT systems, including servers, networks, and virtual environments.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure availability, reliability, and security of infrastructure.
  • Apply system updates, patches, and security configurations in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues; provide timely resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning efforts.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and engineering teams to ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., STIGs, RMF).
  • Maintain system documentation, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
