About The Position

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to hire a Sr. Principal Mission Assurance Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT. The selected candidate will work within the Design Assurance team as a Hardware Quality subject matter expert and stakeholder. You will be responsible for checking design packages for proper content and to ensure compliance to applicable company, customer, and industry modeling standards. You will be responsible for reviewing supplier ingestion design packages, focusing on SDRL deliveries, and providing guidance and training to support growing work scope in that area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree with 8 years of experience; or Master's degree with 6 years of experience; or PhD with 4 years of experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with investigation date within 5 years and have the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
  • Experience independently managing/supporting design review activities for complex hardware, aerospace, defense, electronics, mechanical assemblies, or other highly engineered products.
  • Experience using CAD and PLM software to create and/or review 3D mechanical models and 2D electrical drawings.
  • Experience with review of supplier design artifacts against a defined Supplier SOW.
  • Experience with program requirements interpretation: SOW, DD1423, DID, etc.
  • Experience with applying or reviewing GD&T on designs in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple assignments, manage competing program demands, and communicate effectively across functional organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing and validating internal and external electromechanical hardware models, systems, and other related documents (e.g., GD&T, materials, form/fit/function, manufacturability, feasibility, and economy of fabrication).
  • Recommending changes/revisions to internal and external product definition packages necessary for approval and buy-off during multiphase review meetings and SDRL reviews as a Mission Assurance / Design Assurance representative.
  • Maintaining a Quality Management System ensuring that products and services conform to company standards of excellence (e.g., AS9100, Statement of Work).
  • Reviewing practices, procedures, and processes aiming to standardize and continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness to reduce risk to product quality.
  • Participating in engineering boards as a Mission Assurance / Design Assurance representative.
  • Preparing / presenting reports, briefings, and metrics of internal and program-wide insights / recommendations to internal / external customers.
  • Performing other Mission Assurance related tasks and objectives (e.g., program improvement efforts, collaborations, planning).
