Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for a Senior Principal Manufacturing Operations Engineer to join our team as the prime technical contact and project lead for product protection programs (Foreign Object Detection and Prevention, Electro-Static Discharge and Protection, and 6S) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The role reports to the Director of Manufacturing Operations and is responsible for developing, researching, and leading special projects and product protection programs for the Salt Lake City Manufacturing team. The position is responsible for the management and continuous improvement of the site programs for FOD/FOE, ESD, and 6S lean methodology. The position represents manufacturing as a primary technical contact for product protection programs and interacts with senior leadership, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline with 8 years or a Master's degree in STEM discipline with 6 years of experience.
  • Understanding of electro-static principles and electro-static sensitive devices.
  • Knowledge or experience working in a facility with FOD Critical protocol.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of 6S lean methodology principles.
  • Knowledge and experience with AS9100 certification requirements.
  • Cross-functional project management experience.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience with circuit card manufacturing, fiber optics, and inertial instruments.
  • Product protection experience with such variables as moisture, corrosive chemicals, temperature variations, light, heat, rough handling, and tampering.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, researching, and leading special projects and product protection programs.
  • Management and continuous improvement of site programs for FOD/FOE, ESD, and 6S lean methodology.
  • Representing manufacturing as a primary technical contact for product protection programs.
  • Interacting with senior leadership, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong organization and documentation for the programs.
  • Working with site Managers on training, implementation, and sustainment of the programs.
  • Cross-functional indirect leadership for developing and implementing projects in support of products and manufacturing processes.
  • Performing risk assessments and providing recommendations.
  • Leading continuous improvement projects.
  • Documentation of Standard Shop Practices, Policies and Procedures.
  • Supporting audits.
  • Research and procurement of supplies and equipment to support the ESD and FOD programs.
