Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Sr Principal Electronics Engineer to join their team in Rancho Bernardo, CA. This position will be in their Avionics Integration Organization. The role involves research, design, development, integration, and testing of various electronic equipment and systems, with a focus on RF datalinks, SATCOM, and Communications Networks as the Comms Resiliency Lead. The engineer will be responsible for maintaining complex RF communications architectures, systems, and circuitry components, reporting comms status to Program Managers and IPT Management, and serving as the Primary Responsible Engineer for complex communications subsystems, supplier technical interface, and focal IPT representative for integration support. As the Comms Resiliency Lead, the individual will direct, execute, and oversee future comms updates on all RQ-4 Enterprise Contracts, researching new technologies and presenting replacements for current comms equipment. Additional duties include supervising and mentoring the team, maintaining awareness of activities across contracts, providing technical status to leadership and customers, supporting cost and schedule impact assessments, ensuring adherence to processes and best practices, coordinating with the technical lead, driving process development and continuous improvement, coordinating with the Technical Review Board, mentoring junior engineers, facilitating technical support and approval of IFC products, supporting program reviews, and coordinating across programs for efficiencies. The position requires comprehending and analyzing complex problems and developing solutions. Once established, the position may offer a hybrid work environment with scheduled telework days at the manager's discretion. This position requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
