POSITION SUMMARY & PURPOSE: The Senior Account Executive - PR serves as a key client leader responsible for managing multiple accounts, developing strategic communication plans, and delivering measurable public relations results. This role combines high-level media expertise with strong project management, content creation, and client relationship skills. The Senior AE-PR plays a hands-on role in campaign execution while also mentoring junior team members and contributing to business growth initiatives. The ideal candidate is an experienced communicator who can think strategically, act proactively, and represent the agency and its clients with professionalism and credibility. To lead day-to-day client communications, guide PR strategy and execution, and generate meaningful media visibility that supports client goals. The Senior Account Executive is responsible for overseeing campaign performance, ensuring deliverable quality, and serving as both a trusted advisor to clients and a role model for junior team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
  • 4-6 years of professional public relations experience, preferably within an agency environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong command of media database and monitoring tools (Cision, Muck Rack, Meltwater, Critical Mention).
  • Familiarity with analytics and reporting dashboards.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and presentation skills.
  • Proven track record of securing media coverage in top-tier and industry outlets.
  • Strong understanding of strategic communication planning and brand positioning.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Leadership presence and a collaborative approach to teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Client Leadership & Account Management Serve as the primary point of contact for multiple clients, managing relationships with professionalism and strategic insight.
  • Develop and implement annual PR and communications plans aligned with client business objectives.
  • Lead client meetings, presentations, and performance reviews, providing thoughtful counsel and clear recommendations.
  • Manage account budgets, timelines, and deliverables to ensure efficiency and profitability.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to grow client relationships and expand agency engagement.
  • Media Strategy & Relations Develop targeted media strategies that drive visibility and align with client positioning.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers across national, trade, and local outlets.
  • Craft and deliver compelling story angles, press materials, and pitches that generate high-quality media coverage.
  • Manage crisis communications or sensitive media situations with discretion and strategic guidance.
  • Oversee media monitoring, reporting, and analysis of coverage results.
  • Content Development & Messaging Write and edit high-impact press materials, thought leadership articles, talking points, and digital content.
  • Ensure all messaging aligns with client's brand voice and key communications objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal creative, digital, and marketing teams to integrate PR content across channels.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship Supervise and mentor Account Executives, Associate Account Executives, and interns.
  • Provide constructive feedback, guidance, and skill development support.
  • Delegate effectively while maintaining accountability for deliverable quality.
  • Foster collaboration, learning, and positivity within the team.
  • Campaign Reporting & Insights Track KPIs, media performance, and engagement metrics to measure impact.
  • Prepare executive-level reports highlighting outcomes, insights, and opportunities for future growth.
  • Apply analytical thinking to refine messaging, targeting, and PR strategy.
