We are looking for a Magnetics Design Engineer to lead the development of custom magnetic components for high-frequency power converters used in electric vehicle applications. This role requires full lifecycle ownership from specification through design, prototyping, validation, and transition to high-volume manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in magnetics design, a solid grasp of power electronics converter architecture, and hands-on experience optimizing inductors and transformers for performance and manufacturability. Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams and familiarity with design for manufacturing, WCCA, and DFMEA are essential.

Requirements

Strong understanding of power electronics converters and magnetics design for high frequency applications.
Hands-on hardware experience in custom magnetics design for power electronics.
Good understanding of power conversion topologies and control strategies, switching device characteristics and losses, gate driving circuit design, magnetics, capacitors etc.
Experience in PCB layout.
Proficiency with lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, Network analyzers, Signal Generators etc.)
Experience with Design for Manufacturing, WCCA and DFMEA

Nice To Haves

Familiar with magnetics simulation tools (Ansys)
Familiar with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools
Familiar with electromagnetic compatibility
Familiar with environmental, reliability, and safety requirements for automotive applications
Experience in planar magnetics/OCB winding design is a plus

Responsibilities

Analysis and design trade-off studies of magnetics in the power converters.
Work closely with power electronics and mechanical to develop magnetics design for power converter (inductor, transformer).
Start to finish ownership of magnetic components – from specification to design, prototype, testing, validation, and high-volume manufacturing.
Work with manufacturing team to ensure efficient and high-yield production of the power converter.
