About The Position
The Senior Portfolio Accounting Analyst on the Reconciliation Team is primarily responsible for research and resolution of reconciliation items between Wellington and our client’s custodian banks, prime brokers, and accounting agents (“banks”). They possess a broad understanding of investment accounting and the drivers and root causes that lead to reconciliation differences. Attention to detail, and strong communication and investigation skills are essential to success.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree
- 5-7 years of experience in the Financial Services industry
- Accounting, custody, and/or reconciliation experience
- Experience working with data in Excel
- Deep understanding of accounting for fixed income and equity
- Baseline understanding of accounting for derivatives and synthetic exposures
- Inquisitive and comfortable challenging the status-quo
- Demonstrated effective communication skills, and a high level of attention to detail
- Comfort working across a global team
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience in a collaborative, team-based, results-oriented environment
- Cheerful outlook, self-motivated and willing to work in an energetic, fast paced team environment
Nice To Haves
- SQL or Python knowledge is a plus
Responsibilities
- Work closely with internal groups to identify and resolve open reconciliation items
- Identify break patterns and opportunities for process and control improvements
- Use bank portals in the research of position, cash, and market value differences
- Maintain concise documentation and proper audit trail for in flight items
- Analyze bank data to improve the quality of the reconciliation results
- Collaborate and provide guidance to outsourced team members on escalated issues or inquiries
