About The Position

Design Hire is seeking a Sr Plumbing Engineer to join an experienced multidisciplinary engineering team delivering complex building, industrial, and facility projects. This role provides the opportunity to lead specialized plumbing and piping design while working alongside engineers and project professionals on technically demanding systems. The team emphasizes practical engineering, strong coordination, and high-quality project delivery.

Requirements

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant plumbing, process piping, industrial utility, or facility engineering experience; experience with a professional architecture/engineering or engineering consulting firm is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience designing plumbing, process piping, industrial utility, or specialty piping systems.
  • Strong understanding of industrial piping standards, codes, and engineering practices.
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to review technical deliverables, coordinate multidisciplinary designs, and provide engineering guidance to project teams.
  • Strong communication, project organization, and technical problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering development of plumbing and piping infrastructure, providing technical direction and design expertise throughout the project lifecycle while ensuring systems are properly integrated with facility requirements.
  • Lead process piping design and development of industrial utility systems for complex facilities and infrastructure projects.
  • Design plumbing systems, including domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, and natural gas applications.
  • Evaluate equipment requirements and perform pump selection and related system sizing to support efficient and reliable operation.
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings and project documentation using Revit and AutoCAD, coordinating layouts with other disciplines.
  • Apply hydraulic calculation software, ASME B31.1, and applicable industrial piping codes during design development, technical reviews, and project execution.
