About The Position

Responsible for the accurate and timely sampling, testing, shipping and storage of plasma collected from donors. This role ensures plasma units are properly stored according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), which could include unsuitable plasma units and samples. The technician may also ensure the accuracy of unit labeling by verifying the pre-printed label matches the dynamic label. They utilize sterile technique to draw samples and use a heat sealer to assure the sterility and quality of plasma unit samples per SOPs. Additionally, they ensure samples and units are packed and shipped in accordance with SOPs and center procedures, and prepare shipping and unit disposal documentation. The role involves conducting daily calibration of equipment, resolving calibration issues, and troubleshooting equipment failures, including creating incident documentation and removing/replacing equipment from service. Monitoring freezer and refrigerator temperatures, informing appropriate personnel of any malfunctions, recording variances, and responding to and resolving alarms are also key responsibilities. The Sr Plasma Processing Technician may provide guidance and technical training to Processing Technicians and other staff, and ensures the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system. Understanding policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs, maintaining a clean and efficient work environment, ensuring sufficient supplies, and following all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures are crucial. Promoting safety in all actions and potentially conducting routine audits of internal procedures and documentation are also part of the role. Maintaining confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information is required. The position may involve cross-training in other areas and bilingual skills may be required. Job-related duties as assigned will also be performed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations
• Ability to understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions
• Understands, remembers and communicates routine, factual information
• Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
• Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of time
• Reach, bend, kneel and have high level of manual dexterity
• Occasionally be required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
• Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions
• Frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures and to blood borne pathogens.
• Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas
• Required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs

Responsibilities

• Understanding the policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
• Maintaining a clean and efficient work environment, ensuring sufficient operating supplies and forms are available, and following all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures.
• Promoting safety in all actions and potentially conducting routine audits of internal procedures and documentation.
• Maintaining confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.
• Being cross-trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business.
