About The Position

Our client is currently seeking a NJ Licensed Professional Planner who is familiar with the Municipal Land Use Law (MLUL) and related New Jersey planning statutes and regulations to lead project-level planners and support staff on multi-disciplinary planning projects.

Requirements

  • NJ Licensed Professional Planner
  • Familiarity with the Municipal Land Use Law (MLUL) and related New Jersey planning statutes and regulations
  • Degree in Planning, Architecture, or Landscape Architecture
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification
  • MS Word and Excel, Adobe Suite
  • Comprehensive planning experience, with understanding of urban design and community planning principles
  • Familiarity with or experience in GIS
  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to prioritize and manage tasks effectively
  • Excellent organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in community visioning, public outreach, and charrettes
  • Layout and graphic design for public engagement exhibits, massing plans, and conceptual urban design
  • Understanding and experience in innovative planning, design, and zoning techniques, including form-based codes
  • Experience in resiliency and sustainable planning techniques

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of master plans and master plan reexamination reports, zoning ordinances and development regulations
  • Review of development applications, planning reports and analyses, redevelopment studies and plans, zoning ordinances, and affordable housing plans and studies
  • Review and prepare local municipal ordinances
  • Perform as Project Manager for planning projects in charge of staff, budget, and schedule
  • Prepare evaluation criteria of Municipal Planning review letters/documents
  • Undertake zoning, land use and urban design evaluations to assist Principal/Director
  • Municipal appointments as planning board, zoning board, or municipal planner
  • Review development applications and prepare planning reports for planning and zoning boards
  • Plan and facilitate public participation events to formulate and develop land use or community plans
  • Lead the preparation of design guidelines for open space, building form, project review and site planning
  • Conduct field investigations / site visits to compile and analyze data on factors affecting land use
  • Marketing proposal writing, with assistance from Pennoni Corporate Communications
  • Attend night meetings or public engagement events if required for project
