About The Position

Join our Ambulatory Perinatal Ultrasound Clinic as a Perinatal Ultrasound Sonographer and become an essential part of a team caring for patients with high-risk pregnancies. In this specialized role, you’ll provide advanced diagnostic and imaging services while working closely with Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialists, Perinatologists, residents, physicians, nurses, and other members of the care team. Your expertise will help provide physicians with the detailed images and information they need to evaluate fetal development, identify potential concerns, and guide care throughout pregnancy. Beyond your technical expertise, you’ll be a trusted resource for patients and colleagues—helping patients feel comfortable and informed, supporting physicians during complex examinations, and contributing to a collaborative environment focused on exceptional care.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program.
At least one year of OB ultrasound experience, including direct experience working with a Maternal-Fetal Medicine/Perinatology provider and knowledge of high-risk pregnancy conditions.
Registered and in good standing with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
Must possess the OB/GYN registry upon hire.
Nuchal Translucency (NT) certification required upon hire or within six months of hire.
Fetal Echocardiography (FE) certification required and maintained.
Current BCLS certification required for continued employment.
Strong technical skills and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality diagnostic images.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams.
Demonstrated leadership ability and willingness to serve as a resource and mentor to colleagues.
Flexible, collaborative, and able to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Knowledge of human development and the ability to effectively interact with patients across all ages and backgrounds.
Ability to operate computer systems and accurately enter, retrieve, and manage patient information and images.
Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds to assist with patient movement and positioning.

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic and specialized sonographic examinations as ordered by the attending physician, following established department protocols and standards.
Perform advanced obstetric and perinatal ultrasound examinations and assist Perinatologists with specialized imaging studies.
Obtain high-quality diagnostic images and ensure all required examination documentation is complete and available for physician review.
Communicate pertinent examination information and results to the Perinatologist and appropriate members of the care team.
Prepare preliminary reports and communicate with referring physicians as required according to established procedures.
Work confidently and independently across both routine diagnostic and highly specialized imaging examinations.
Collaborate closely with Perinatologists, residents, physicians, nursing staff, clinic teams, and other healthcare professionals to support the care of patients with high-risk pregnancies.
Serve as a knowledgeable resource to colleagues in both the Perinatal Ultrasound and OB Clinics.
Help coordinate care by communicating with clinics, inpatient units, physicians, nurses, and other departments on behalf of patients.
Support an interdisciplinary approach to patient care by contributing your specialized knowledge and clinical expertise.
Welcome patients warmly and prepare them for their examination, explaining procedures and answering questions to help them feel comfortable and informed.
Recognize when a patient has additional questions or concerns and connect them with the appropriate physician or Perinatologist when needed.
Provide compassionate, respectful, and age-appropriate care while recognizing each patient’s physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
Maintain a professional, courteous, and helpful presence with patients, families, visitors, physicians, coworkers, and all others representing the organization.
Answer telephone calls, provide information, schedule patients when needed, and direct calls to the appropriate department or team member.
Perform image processing and ensure images and related information are accurately created, transmitted, and retrieved.
Maintain clean, organized, and appropriately stocked examination rooms.
Transport patients and assist with other clinic needs as necessary.
Monitor and order supplies to help ensure the clinic is prepared to provide uninterrupted patient care.
Maintain proficiency with both ASOBGYN and PAC computer systems, including creating, sending, retrieving, and managing patient information and diagnostic images.
Participate in performance improvement initiatives, including data collection and assembly.
Contribute ideas that enhance patient experience, customer service, workflow, and quality within the specialized imaging environment.
Promote a culture of quality improvement, patient and staff safety, teamwork, and cultural diversity through daily practice.
Stay current with applicable regulations, guidelines, professional standards, and organizational policies.
Maintain current knowledge of applicable statutes, regulations, guidelines, and standards necessary to perform job responsibilities safely and effectively.
Follow the organization’s Code of Conduct, Corporate Compliance Plan, and Compliance Policies and Procedures, including all required training.
Participate in compliance activities as directed by department leadership and the Corporate Compliance Officer.
