About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Payroll & Benefits Specialist to support the accurate administration of payroll, benefits, and compensation programs for a large employee population. This role is essential to ensuring employees are paid accurately, supported through benefits and leave programs, and confident in their total rewards. The Senior Payroll & Benefits Specialist will partner closely with HR, Accounting, and Finance teams to ensure compliance, operational excellence, and a positive employee experience across payroll, benefits, and retirement programs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of payroll experience, including serving as a lead or subject matter expert, with demonstrated experience processing payroll for 1,000+ employees.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll and HR systems such as SAP, ADP, UKG, or Ceridian.
  • Strong working knowledge of employer-sponsored benefit plans, retirement programs, and leave administration.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and communicate clearly in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting compensation benchmarking, benefits renewals, or vendor management is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the accurate and timely processing of employee wages, taxes, and deductions in partnership with the Manager of Compensation & Benefits.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for payroll operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain payroll records with a high degree of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Assist with payroll audits, reconciliations, reporting, and issue resolution.
  • Act as a lead resource for payroll-related questions and troubleshooting.
  • Administer company health, wellness, HSA, life insurance, and 401(k) programs, including enrollments, changes, billing, audits, and vendor coordination.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions and concerns.
  • Manage employee leave of absence programs, ensuring compliance and providing guidance and support throughout the leave process.
  • Maintain accurate benefits records and documentation in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Assist with the administration and evaluation of compensation and benefits programs to support attraction, retention, and engagement.
  • Prepare and analyze reporting related to benefits utilization, costs, and trends.
  • Use internal and external market data to support competitive compensation and benefits practices.
  • Partner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Accounting, and external vendors.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll and benefits processes and the overall employee experience.
