Requirements

BS degree in Packaging, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
10+ years of professional experience in packaging engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Experience developing and validating packaging solutions for complex equipment, industrial products, or technology hardware is highly valued.
Packaging design and development
Packaging testing and validation
Transportation and distribution packaging
Packaging materials selection
Supplier management and qualification
Development of packaging specifications and standards
Design for Distribution (DFD)
Cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives
Product Life Cycle (PLC) support and new product introduction activities.
Fluent in CAD, NX preferred, Solidworks, Creo, Artios, AutoCad
Lead packaging-related projects and problem-solving efforts.
Develop global packaging standards.
Mentor and train junior packaging engineers.
Work cross-functionally with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and product engineering teams.
Drive process improvements and best practices.

Responsibilities

Aid in the establishment and management of packaging suppliers and related processes and procedures.
Develop test plans and perform laboratory testing on products, packages, and packaging materials.
Support the Product Life Cycle (PLC) process by defining Design For Distribution (DFD) requirements and influencing product design.
Identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives and cost-saving activities.
Develop and maintain global packaging standards and specifications for Applied Materials and its Supply Base.
Provide advanced training and support to Packaging Engineer III.
Performs other duties as assigned. Duties will vary according to the project in progress and/or the specific goals of the department in which the incumbent works. Duties may include leading team solutions to problems identified throughout the development and lifecycle of a product.
