Sr. Oracle Database Administrator
About The Position
This role involves administering and supporting Oracle 19c databases in a Data Guard configuration, including managing and maintaining Oracle Data Guard using Data Guard Broker. The position requires configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting Fast-Start Failover (FSFO) with multiple observers, performing routine and emergency patching, and monitoring database health, performance, and availability using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM). The administrator will also execute and validate switchover and failover operations, maintain backup and recovery processes using RMAN, and support FRA and flashback features. The role requires strong hands-on experience with Oracle 19c on Linux (non-RAC), proven expertise with Data Guard Broker and FSFO in multi-standby environments, solid experience with Oracle patching and lifecycle management, working knowledge of OEM, experience with RMAN backup/recovery and Flashback Database, proficiency in Linux administration and shell scripting, experience supporting multi-site observer configurations, and familiarity with performance tuning (AWR/ASH).
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Oracle 19c on Linux (non-RAC)
- Proven expertise with Data Guard Broker and FSFO in multi-standby environments
- Solid experience with Oracle patching and lifecycle management
- Working knowledge of OEM for monitoring, alerting, and performance analysis
- Experience with RMAN backup/recovery and Flashback Database
- Proficiency in Linux administration and shell scripting
- Experience supporting multi-site observer configurations
- Familiarity with performance tuning (AWR/ASH)
- 10+ years Oracle database administration experience supporting large scale or enterprise level database services
- 10 + years’ experience administering to, and engineering solutions with Oracle’s database
- Extensive experience with database design and modeling; as well as, the collection and interpretation of customer requirements relevant to database migration, troubleshooting, performance observation and tuning
- Significant experience with the production and deployment of RAC, RMAN backup & recovery
- Experience with DB security, Data Guard and / or DB Vault, Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control, label security, and data migration
- BS in CS or related course of study, or equivalent years’ experience
- Must be an independent worker with strong communications skills
- Security + CE required
- Top Secret Clearance with LS Poly

Responsibilities
- Administer and support Oracle 19c databases in a Data Guard configuration (1 primary, 2 standbys)
- Manage and maintain Oracle Data Guard using Data Guard Broker
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Fast-Start Failover (FSFO) including multiple observers across distributed environments
- Perform routine and emergency patching (RU/CPU), including planning, testing, and post-patch validation
- Monitor database health, performance, and availability using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
- Execute and validate switchover and fail-over operations, including reinstatement of the primary database
- Troubleshoot Data Guard issues such as transport/apply lag, archive gaps, and broker-related errors
- Maintain backup and recovery processes using RMAN, including support for FRA and flashback features
