About The Position

The Sr Operations Manager will oversee day-to-day operations across receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, inventory control, and returns processing. This role involves managing multiple distribution centers or large-scale facilities (typically 200,000+ sq ft) and achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, order accuracy, on-time delivery, fill rate, and cost per unit shipped. The manager will develop and implement operational strategies to support business growth, seasonal peaks, and new customer onboarding. Additionally, the role includes leading, coaching, and developing a team of managers, supervisors, and over 50 hourly associates across multiple shifts, fostering a strong safety-first culture, and maintaining excellent OSHA/safety metrics. Talent acquisition, performance management, succession planning, and employee engagement are also key aspects of this position. The Sr Operations Manager will drive Lean/Six Sigma initiatives, automation projects, and warehouse management system (WMS) optimizations, analyzing operational data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for cost reduction and service improvement. Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (AIB, ISO, OSHA, DOT) and maintaining high standards for inventory accuracy (99%+), product quality, and customer satisfaction are critical. The role also involves owning the operating budget for labor, supplies, maintenance, and facility costs, and preparing monthly forecasts, variance analysis, and capital expenditure justifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in warehousing, distribution, or 3PL operations.
  • Proven track record managing large teams (50+ associates) and complex, high-volume distribution environments.
  • Strong experience with WMS (e.g., Accellos, SAP, Blue Yonder, High Jump) and labor management systems.
  • Demonstrated success implementing Lean, 5S, or continuous improvement programs with measurable ROI.
  • Exceptional leadership and people development skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with data-driven decision making.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • High integrity, safety mindset, and customer obsession.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in e-commerce fulfillment, retail distribution, manufacturing supply chain, or temperature-controlled environments.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
