About The Position

The Sr. Operations Manager is responsible for the strategic planning and daily management of operations, encompassing logistics, client services, and information analysis. This role involves critical financial oversight, including cost control, budgeting, revenue management, and profitability. The manager is expected to generate and communicate operational and functional reports to upper management for trend analysis, cost control, and productivity assessment. Additionally, the position handles various human resource functions such as hiring, firing, training, and employee orientation. Ensuring compliance with corporate and government regulations related to safety, environmental standards, and transportation issues is also a key responsibility. The manager is tasked with protecting the company's image by maintaining confidentiality of company and employee information, continuously updating job knowledge through professional development, and upholding the company's core values and best practices across regional operations. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations for the transportation of goods by Ground / Air in the US and International Imports & Exports, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, dangerous goods regulations, transportation modes, traffic routes, trucking lanes and the country's most efficient highways.
  • A degree in Logistics, Transportation Management, or Business or equivalent work experience.
  • 10-15 years of management experience and knowledge of the transportation industry.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic planning and management of daily operations which includes overseeing logistics functions, client services, information collection and analysis.
  • Responsible for cost control, budgeting, revenue and profitability.
  • Creating and effectively communicating operational and functional reports and information to upper management in order to analysis trends, revenue, cost control, and productivity.
  • Handling human resource activities, including hiring and firing, training and employee orientation.
  • Handling aspects of safety and compliance, responsible for compliance of corporate and government regulations regarding safety, environmental, and transportation issues.
  • Protecting company's image by keeping company and employee information confidential.
  • Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Maintain company's core value and best practices throughout regional operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
