About The Position

This job provides technical support services, assists with the delivery of patient care by functioning as a member of the surgical team, and performs all job duties of an operating room assistant. Provides service specific assistance with or and anesthesia equipment and supplies, provides safe, technical support to anesthesia staff with direct patient needs, troubleshoots equipment, second scrubs on some procedures, precepts new ORAs, assists with evaluation of new hires, and assists with development of orientation material. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of patient care experience.
  • Operating room or anesthesia technical support experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • Successful completion of planned instructional or sponsored course.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to function calmly in high pressure situations.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, on call availability).
  • Ability to travel throughout and between facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Performs direct patient care duties.
  • Performs indirect patient care duties.
  • Maintains a clean, safe environment in patient care and support surgical areas.
  • Assists in the day-to-day operations of the department/unit.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
