About The Position

The Senior Network Engineer for CONUS is key personnel supporting the DoD medical mission by addressing highly complex infrastructure requirements for DHA networked facilities. This role serves as the premier network specialist and global point of contact for network issues, configuration management, communications interconnection, addressing, multi-protocol routing, and network management. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of directly related experience; or certified Technical/Vocational School completion and 10 years of directly related progressive experience
  • Mastery-level experience in routed, switched, and shared LAN environments
  • SECRET security level designation required
  • DoD 8570.01 compliance
  • IAM Level III or equivalent certification required
  • CCNP and CISSP required
  • Experience with DoD Health Care Information Systems required
  • Expertise in Windows networks, Cisco Systems, and Orion SolarWinds required
  • Mastery of TCP/IP, XDM, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, RSTP, VRRP, BIND, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, PPP, HDLC, V.35, RS-449, IEEE 802 standards, synchronous/asynchronous communications, Ethernet/Fast Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet, FDDI, ATM, OTDR, cable testers, network sniffers, EIA/TIA standards, Microsoft OS, Windows Active Directory, UNIX, OpenVMS, routers, switches, terminal servers, and local/long-haul WAN connectivity
  • Must communicate effectively with Government officials, medical professionals, and highly specialized technical personnel, verbally and in writing

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Zero Trust architectures and methodologies desired

Responsibilities

  • Identify and resolve complex LAN/WLAN/WAN issues
  • Research network-level problems using management tools
  • Provide high-level installation, configuration, documentation, management, and troubleshooting of communication equipment
  • Advise Government staff, agencies, and contractors on LAN/WLAN/WAN design, implementation, deployment, and management
  • Lead Network Specialists and internal/external organizations to resolve issues
  • Use tools such as Orion SolarWinds, ARMIS, and Ansible to diagnose and resolve issues across the OSI model
  • Support MIB/MRTG-based performance measurement and downtime reduction
  • Establish and configure firewalls, VPN devices, and IDSs
  • Provide written recommendations, ticket documentation, written standards, and standards updates in coordination with the NetMOD Network Standards Team
  • Study vendor products
  • Establish LAN/WLAN/WAN procedures and standards
  • Communicate request status to key customers
  • Support standardization, best practices, minimum access standards, and related projects as needed
