Job Summary The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and support of enterprise network and communication infrastructure. This role applies advanced technical knowledge to maintain reliable, secure, and scalable connectivity services across campus, data center, and cloud environments. The Senior Network Engineer serves as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex network issues, provides technical leadership on assigned initiatives, mentors less-experienced staff, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to support organizational technology objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in network engineering or a closely related technical role
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure and resolving complex technical issues
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching concepts
  • Experience working with network security technologies and secure access solutions
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with Cloudflare SASE and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), including WARP-based endpoint connectivity
  • Hands-on experience administering Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls and centralized firewall management platforms
  • Hands-on experience supporting Juniper wireless networking solutions, including controller-based or cloud-managed deployments
  • Experience with enterprise routing and switching technologies and dynamic routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP)
  • Experience supporting enterprise voice, video, and collaboration platforms, including Microsoft Teams Voice and Microsoft Teams Rooms
  • Experience with network monitoring, performance, and logging tools (e.g., PRTG, Cacti, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar)
  • Experience with cloud networking in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible, PowerShell) is a plus
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNP, Juniper, Palo Alto, or security certifications) are desirable

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, operate, and support enterprise network infrastructure, including local, wide-area, and cloud-connected environments
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize network performance, capacity, and availability using enterprise monitoring and analytics tools
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network incidents and interoperability issues across core, access, and edge environments
  • Maintain reliable operation of network services through proactive maintenance, lifecycle management, and change control practices
  • Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation to support critical enterprise network services during off-hours, evenings, or weekends, as required
  • Support enterprise network security and secure access services, including firewalls, remote access, and cloud-delivered security platforms
  • Operate and support Zero Trust–related security software aligned with modern secure access and segmented network access principles, including identity-aware access and policy-based controls
  • Assist with implementation, operation, and maintenance of secure access solutions supporting users, devices, applications, and network services
  • Support integration of network security and access controls with enterprise identity, authentication, and endpoint systems
  • Support high-availability, resiliency, and operational assurance of network security platforms through testing, validation, monitoring, and documented procedures
  • Support enterprise wireless networking services to ensure consistent, reliable connectivity across corporate environments
  • Assist with deployment, operation, and troubleshooting of wireless, voice, and video collaboration services
  • Support collaboration environments, including integration of conferencing systems with enterprise network and communications services
  • Lead technical execution of assigned network projects and initiatives from planning through implementation
  • Coordinate technical activities with cross-functional teams, vendors, and service providers to ensure effective delivery
  • Serve as technical lead for assigned efforts, providing solution guidance and escalation support without direct people-management responsibility
  • Identify technical risks, dependencies, and constraints, escalating issues as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and operational references
  • Develop and maintain runbooks, procedures, and technical documentation to support operational consistency
  • Evaluate new technologies and approaches to improve network reliability, performance, and security
