As Sr. Modeling & Simulation Systems Engineer III , you’ll be the technical focal point for sustaining and transitioning mission-critical legacy Modeling and Simulation or training systems within a larger operational portfolio. This role balances short-term reliability of legacy capabilities with long-term modernization objectives and integrations. The position requires strong technical leadership, deep understanding of legacy environments, and the ability to coordinate across engineering, security, and Government stakeholders. Requirements

  • An Active Secret security clearance
  • 10+ years of experience developing, sustaining, and leading technical efforts for legacy Modeling and Simulation, training, or mission planning systems, including associated models, systems, and interfaces
  • Demonstrated experience integrating and fielding simulation or training capabilities in operational environments, such as command centers or operational planning organizations
  • Proven experience integrating legacy systems with modern architectures, including cloud-based services (AWS or Azure) and service-oriented or RESTful interfaces
  • Strong background supporting operational users and ensuring legacy capabilities remain reliable, usable, and mission-ready during sustainment and transition periods
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate technical transition activities across incumbent contractors and Government stakeholders
  • Experience leading or providing senior technical oversight during system sustainment, integration, and transition efforts involving multiple teams and dependencies
  • Required to meet baseline DoD 8140 / IAT Level II compliance for system access and operational support such as Security+.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical sustainment and transition of a legacy Modeling and Simulation or training baseline within a larger operational portfolio
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for understanding legacy behaviors, interfaces, dependencies, and operational constraints
  • Coordinate daily with engineering teams, incumbent contractors, and Government stakeholders to support sustainment and transition activities
  • Guide engineers implementing fixes, integrations, and transition paths while ensuring legacy training and simulation artifacts remain operational
  • Support transition engineering efforts that integrate legacy systems into broader, modernized environments
  • Partner with cybersecurity and DevSecOps teams to address findings, maintain compliance, and ensure legacy components remain deployable
  • Provide technical leadership, risk awareness, and execution discipline across sustainment and modernization efforts
  • Contribute to technical planning, execution tracking, and continuous improvement activities
