About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Data Center Manager who will be responsible for the overall daily engineering, operations, and maintenance of Cboe-owned and colocation data centers and all associated hardware and systems within them. This role requires exceptional decision-making abilities on technical and organizational issues, the ability to excel within a larger organization, and a strong focus on long-term strategic thinking. The Senior Manager will delegate, and at times personally perform, all tasks associated with the installation, acceptance, and maintenance of a variety of Cboe-owned equipment. You will play a critical role in shaping the future direction of our data center infrastructure, driving innovation, and ensuring the efficiency and scalability of our data center engineering processes. You will stay at the forefront of technological advancements and industry best practices while leading a team of data center engineers and providing mentorship, guidance, and support for their professional development. It is important that this individual also foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing within the data center engineering team, and that they have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Please note: Candidate selected for this role must be willing to work on site at our Secaucus, New Jersey Data Center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 10+ years of hands-on data center operations experience, including at least 5 years leading or managing technical teams.
  • Experience managing colocation or third-party data center providers, including SLA enforcement and escalation.
  • Experience supporting 24/7 mission-critical environments, including leading incident response and root-cause analysis.
  • Ability and flexibility to work both day and night shifts is extremely important.
  • Must be willing to work on site at our Secaucus, New Jersey Data Center.

  • Experience with CAPEX/OPEX budget planning and vendor contract negotiation.
  • Working knowledge of structured cabling standards and DCIM/asset management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee 24/7 operations, physical security, capacity planning, and maintenance of all mission-critical data center equipment and footprint for all Cboe markets, ensuring maximum availability, high performance, and continuous operations across single or multiple data center sites.
  • Set up and maintain customer cross-connects and latency-equalized customer connectivity infrastructure, applying equidistant cabling principles.
  • Work with data center providers to establish cross-connects and maintain awareness of carrier/provider points of entry within colocation facilities.
  • Manage, monitor, and audit provider SLAs for power, cooling, and physical security; escalate and drive remediation when providers fall short.
  • Work with the Sr. Director Data Center Operations to manage capital (CAPEX) and operating (OPEX) budgets for the department and support the negotiation of vendor contracts.
  • Ensure colocation provider relationships and departmental procedures align with applicable regulatory and audit frameworks, including SOX, DORA, SOC 2, and other financial-industry regulatory requirements relevant to Cboe’s markets.
  • Partner with Compliance, Risk, and Internal Audit to maintain audit-ready documentation supporting regulatory control testing.
  • With guidance from the Sr. Director Data Center Operations, establish, monitor, and analyze metrics across all aspects of data center operations, using KPIs such as power utilization, SLA adherence, latency, and capacity forecasting to identify trends and optimization opportunities that enhance performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Help define, with the Sr. Director Data Center Operations, global standards for all data center systems to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning and roadmaps for data center infrastructure, aligned with the organization’s future needs and capacity.
  • Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies, industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements (including cable plant technologies), evaluating their applicability to our data center engineering processes.
  • Manage, mentor, and direct operations, facilities coordination, and technical support for the team.
  • Apply sound decision-making to complex technical and organizational challenges, balancing competing priorities to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Network Operations, Systems Engineering, and Network Engineering to align efforts with organizational goals.
  • Oversee 24/7 operations, physical security, and environmental/mechanical systems (power, cooling, fire suppression) across all Cboe data center sites to ensure maximum availability; open temporary data center access tickets for visitors/vendors/employees as required.
  • Schedule and assign the nightly MAC work (Move/Adds/Changes of equipment and cabling associated with JIRA tickets within department’s queue); review and approve change/Method-of-Procedure (MOP) documentation to prevent unplanned outages.
  • Oversee and manage the installation of new equipment and cabling for all data center projects.
  • Oversee and manage the generating and updating of documentation used by our department (ITAM tool/equipment/cabling spare inventory spreadsheets).
  • Responsible for support and coverage across shifts as required, including on-call rotations.
  • Responsible to mentor both senior and junior team members regarding departmental best practices and procedures.
  • Responsible to manage the Cboe relationship with the local data center providers used by the company. Supports CAPEX/OPEX budget planning and vendor contract negotiations in partnership with the Sr. Director, Data Center Operations.
  • Leads incident response, root-cause analysis, and disaster recovery/business continuity readiness for mission-critical data center infrastructure supporting all Cboe markets.
  • Performs other related duties or travel as required or requested.
