About The Position

The primary purpose of this role is to provide technical services to mining customers for the purpose of sales growth. The Sr Manager Application Development will promote distinction between Univar Solutions and its competitors by using a technical consultative approach to needs-based evaluations of the technology applied by customers. This role will adapt and implement national product strategies and services on a local basis, assist field sellers and industry team members with joint calls, and identify which Univar technological product best suits the customer’s applications. The position develops strategies to promote customers’ adaptation and/or conversion to Univar products, builds profitable sales using a consultative approach, and develops and maintains long-term partnerships with customers by using industry expertise. The role utilizes Univar resources to provide solutions to customer needs and captures market intelligence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Engineering
  • 5+ years of successful industrial sales management experience
  • 5+ years in the mining industry and familiarity of mining processes used throughout the US.
  • Proven experience in developing and completing a business plan
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills; ability to listen and speak with others to convey information effectively
  • Good decision making skills; ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and choose the most appropriate one
  • Knowledge and familiarity with CRM tools and systems (Salesforce)
  • Ability to build strong and lasting business relationship
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support at all levels of customer as necessary
  • Coordinate supplier meetings at key/target customers
  • Joint calls with Univar Sales and Suppliers at customers
  • Develop technical proposals
  • Generate product/service application solutions
  • Identify new service/product opportunities through supervising industry/market changes and customer needs
  • Provides training and presentations for sales team and customers
  • Collaborates on products and service solutions
  • Attend product training / continual education / updates
  • Assist with new product launches
  • Assist in qualifications of potential new suppliers/products
  • Provide feedback on technical aspects, intelligence and marketplace
  • Assist with Supplier/Customer contract negotiations
  • Provides communication to collaborators
  • Assist in tradeshows (national & local) and Industry conference/meetings ; website info, literature development
  • Establishes annual and quarterly sales pipeline targets for respective industry that successfully integrate with overall business team or company strategies
