About The Position

Academy Sports + Outdoors is seeking a Sr Merchandise Planner for Mens Outdoor Apparel. This role supports financial and assortment planning to drive sales, profit, and inventory efficiency. The daily work involves building financial plans, guiding system enhancements, and providing timely insights to buyers and divisional leaders. The goal is to ensure planning processes are accurate, consistent, and aligned with business objectives. The position also involves evaluating proposed actions, maintaining documentation and training content, and coordinating ad hoc reporting for decision-making. Collaboration with CSMs, merchants, and DMMs is key to shaping assortment and planogram decisions, which strengthens forecasting, improves operational readiness, and supports long-term business growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience required
  • 6+ years of related work experience required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with merchandise financial and assortment planning
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Oracle, SAS, JDA Space Planning, and related tools
  • Ability to identify opportunities for growth, efficiency, and improved accuracy
  • A team-first attitude
  • Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties
  • Ability to adhere to company policies and professional standards
