About The Position

The Senior Planner – D67 Toss/Throw role offers the opportunity to lead one of Decorative Home’s most exciting and strategically important businesses. Toss/Throw is a critical growth driver for the division and serves as a style beacon, setting trends and inspiring guests across Decorative Home. This role sits at the intersection of financial strategy, product storytelling, and operational excellence, providing significant visibility and the ability to shape the future of the business. In addition to leading a high-impact category, you'll help pioneer new planning initiatives that bring greater speed, agility, and flexibility to our operating model. As the business continues to evolve, you'll play a key role in testing and implementing new ways of working that strengthen planning capabilities and accelerate decision-making across the organization. A role in Planning means leading the financial strategy, forecasting, and inventory investment for one of Target's businesses. You'll partner across Merchandising and Supply Chain to translate data into actionable insights, ensuring the right product is available to support guest demand while influencing key business decisions through financial analysis and strategic recommendations.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 6–10 years of relevant experience
  • 4+ years of Merchandising experience
  • Strong strategic, financial, and analytical skills; can easily translate data from an array of sources into insights and recommendations
  • Strong collaboration skills to partner with cross-functional teams
  • Flexible, resilient, and comfortable working in "grey areas" that are constantly changing
  • Passion for building and growing trend-right businesses while balancing strategy with execution

Responsibilities

  • Lead in-season decision-making, assortment planning, and demand forecasting while partnering with cross-functional teams and vendors to execute the divisional strategy.
  • Own the open-to-buy process, evaluate category investments, and conduct scenario planning to optimize assortments and inventory.
  • Analyze forecast performance and supply and demand trends to identify risks and opportunities, inform "chase-cancel" decisions, and provide recommendations that improve financial outcomes.
  • Lead initial set planning, validate promotional forecasts, support Pricing & Promotion Center of Excellence decisions, and oversee event forecasting and end-of-season inventory strategies.
