This opportunity resides with All-Domain Operations (ADO), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. All-Domain Operations comprises multi-domain operations, platforms and logistics, and intelligence operations. HII-Mission Technologies is seeking a part-time Senior Mechanical Engineer who will provide engineering, logistics, and life cycle management support for complex defense systems. This role requires a strong mechanical engineering background, experience managing system obsolescence, oversight of configuration and technical data packages, and the ability to work in classified environments. This role is required to be onsite.

Requirements

  • 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Demonstrated experience in logistics, life cycle management, and obsolescence resolution.
  • Experience with system level testing, qualification, and certification.
  • Knowledge of configuration management and technical data packages.
  • Ability to prepare technical documentation, Statements of Work, and cost estimates.
  • Ability to Obtain and maintain an active Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering leadership across system life cycles, including design, testing, qualification, fielding, sustainment, and obsolescence management.
  • Conduct component redesign and system improvement initiatives to address quality, safety, performance, and obsolescence issues.
  • Develop and execute test plans, qualification procedures, and test reports for component and system level evaluations.
  • Prepare procurement packages, contractor Statements of Work, and cost estimates to support acquisition, production, repair, and fielding activities.
  • Support logistics planning through analysis of spare parts usage, readiness trends, and fleet submitted Quality Deficiency Reports.
  • Provide recommendations for material updates, specification changes, and configuration baselines to address obsolescence.
  • Lead and support Configuration Management teams to maintain and update technical data packages, drawings, and system documentation.
  • Coordinate with program offices and stakeholders to develop cost estimates for yearly engineering support, special projects, and contractor services.
  • Develop and maintain functional verification test procedures to support quality assurance for production and depot repair activities.
  • Support Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health processes, including hazard analyses, risk mitigation, and preparation of Safety Releases for test events.
  • Manage scheduling, coordination, and execution of Developmental Test and Operational Test events in partnership with test ranges and operational test agencies.
  • Support depot level operations including receipt inspection, condition code verification, storage, repair, and shipment of mechanical assemblies and components.
  • Provided logistics leadership, obsolescence analysis, configuration management oversight, and preparation of supply bulletins, technical instructions, and modification documents.
