About The Position

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (OTS) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Solid Rocket Motor Engineering Team. The role requires a strong understanding of thermal analysis principles and expertise in industry-standard tools. The engineer will conduct detailed thermal analysis of solid rocket motor components, collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, interface with customers, and drive technical excellence. This is a full-time position with a 9/80 schedule and can be remote or based at their Huntsville, AL or Hampton, AR facility.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience
  • Engineering degree required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

  • Applies engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, repair and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
  • Confers with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
  • Researches and analyzes customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Specifies system components or directs modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Investigates equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
  • Conduct detailed thermal analysis of solid rocket motor components.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams.
