About The Position

Under the direction of Engineering Management, develop and analyze new or existing designs to meet product specifications while considering feasibility of operation, manufacturing and application. Ensure products continually meet or exceed customer & market needs, agency & compliance requirements, manufacturing continuous improvement, and cost savings initiatives. Provide mentorship to other team members regarding technical design, project execution, and Alto-Shaam processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or in a related field
• 7 years of experience working in engineering in progressive roles.
• Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing mechanical systems and products. Ability to analyze and troubleshoot electro-mechanical products.
• Ability to apply complex engineering principles and statistics to solve problems.
• Strong ability to use CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Advanced knowledge of Agency and Certification Standards, such as UL, Energy Star, ASTM, etc.
• Commercial awareness, including understanding of target user and market requirements.
• Advanced understanding of manufacturing processes, including sheet metal fabrication and injection molding.
• Leadership skills to identify bottlenecks in development and implement corrective actions.
• Ability to communicate effectively and clearly in both verbal and written formats.
• Must be self-motivated and a great team worker.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (word, excel, access, outlook)

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to wholistically plan, conceptualize, and create innovative designs for new products or updates to existing products with a focus on quality, cost, manufacturability, product performance and agency compliance.
• Develop testing processes and perform testing and validation of new designs or updates to existing products. Clearly document results and recommendations for product & process improvement.
• Coordinate pilot builds for testing and customer field trials throughout the NPD process.
• Perform engineering calculations to support design work, including the use of Virtual Analysis (FEA, CFD, etc.)
• Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications and make recommendations for improvements.
• Lead collaboration with multi-disciplinary engineering and cross functional teams to execute upon project deliverables, and work with suppliers and contractors.
• Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process.
• Ensure adherence to the New Product Development process, project timelines are met, projects stay within budget and on target for product performance and cost.
• Provide mentorship for other members of the engineering and cross functional teams.
• Possess awareness of intellectual property requirements related to both infringement and protection of intellectual property and drive the appropriate actions.
